It’s not over yet! The future of the world is human and you belong in it!
In case you were wondering, as I had been for some time.
I don’t know about you, but lately it feels like we’re living through a technological revolution that’s simultaneously exciting and terrifying. Working in content for a tech company over the past three years, I’ve experienced firsthand how dramatically things can change. Between November last year and March 2025, my entire approach to work was upended by AI advancements.
I had to scramble to find answers. It sucked. But I learned. I adapted.
What I discovered through this process wasn’t just how to work alongside AI, but something much more profound: as technology accelerates, our uniquely human qualities become more valuable, not less.
The Technology Paradox
Listen, I’ve worked in tech a long time. I like technology and what it can do but not to the point that it takes over your life. I love how technology can help democratize and help build.
BUT I have a MAJOR problem when;
- Couples and families sit at restaurants staring at their mobile phones
- You can’t tell what’s real and what isn’t
- One person can build a billion-dollar company when there are people who I consider to be doing real work in the world, who can barely afford to feed their families
This isn’t about rejecting technology—it’s about reclaiming our relationship with it. After watching how rapidly AI has transformed industries (including my own), I’ve developed a few predictions:
- We’re approaching a tipping point where people will rebel against being slaves to technology (and our mobile phones) and start reclaiming control of their time and attention
- The qualities that make us distinctly human—creativity, compassion, moral reasoning, and empathy—cannot be replicated by algorithms
- As AI-generated content becomes ubiquitous and “vanilla,” the most valuable people will be those who cultivate their uniquely human skills. Just look at my sister, who as a psychologist, is thriving!
So what does this mean for you?
I know there are lots of people going through really tough times right now. Devastating times, as a result of job loss, break ups, war or just an unprecedented level of stress and anxiety.
When you’re in the thick of things it seems impossible but trust me when I say “this too shall pass“.
And also, often the crux of a crisis can be the best time for evaluation.
We can choose, as individuals and as a collective, what type of world we want for the future.
I actually think this whole AI revolution is going to spark exactly that, an urgency to make us investigate what it means to be human.
So maybe you’ve just lost your job? Or maybe you’re figuring out your next career move? Or maybe you’re a content creator, business leader, or someone just trying to navigate this changing landscape, here are some suggestions;
1. Invest in your humanity
Cultivate the skills machines can’t easily replicate: deep empathy, ethical judgment, creative thinking. These aren’t just professionally valuable—they enrich your life.
2. Be intentional with technology
Use it as a tool to amplify your human abilities, not replace them. Ask yourself: “Is this technology serving me, or am I serving it?”
2. Cultivate your creative thinking
Set aside time for brainstorming without digital devices. Take a different route to work. Try an artistic pursuit with no pressure to be “good.” Creativity isn’t just for artists—it’s for problem-solving in every domain.
3. Create space for human connection
The most meaningful innovations of the future won’t just be technological—they’ll be social. Take up a new sport, join a club or even just ask a friend for coffee.
And more importantly than ever, get out into nature. No phone. No Insta. No nada. Just pure joy!
Spend time with your favorite humans
Write a list of your favorite humans.
I LOVE doing this because it really reminds me that there ARE great humans.
1. My mom, my sister and my dad. I mean…🥰
2. My friends Nats, Caity, Gerardo, Jasmine… and all the rest I love so much!
3. ALL the ladies I ever interviewed on my podcast.
4. The people doing GREAT work in the world – whom are too numerous to mention.
How to Prepare for an Uncertain Future?
Okay lovely Lisa but I need more. How do I survive?
In 2012, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos shared this;
Then, more recently Sahil Bloom shared this insight on how to prepare for an uncertain future;
The lesson: It’s easy to focus on what will change, but in a world where it’s unlikely you will be correct, it’s more important to focus on what will stay the same.
Focus on the lighthouse.
Here are a few timeless human truths that will not change in the future:
- Humans will always crave real, personal connection
- Humans will seek meaning, purpose, and clarity
- Humans will value things that make them feel good
- Humans will pay for experiences that reduce friction
- Humans will pursue status and improved social positioning
These truths are the lighthouse.
And to end off…
I could be wrong about all of this. In fact, I look forward to reading back on this post and seeing if I am.
What I do want to do is to push YOU to think about it.
